Copper is currently with Project HALO (Helping Animals Live On) in Charlotte, which is a GREAT rescue organization. Here's what Petfinder has to say about him:
This 10 year old Golden Retriever mix was left at a shelter in eastern North Carolina last summer. It appears most of his life prior to that had been in one home, most likely as an only pet. Listed by the shelter as a 13 year old dog, a kind soul pulled him and he came to the Charlotte area to be fostered. His foster family has found that he prefers human companionship as opposed to that of dogs and cats. Copper is neutered, UTD on routine vaccinations, knows basic commands and is energetic for his age. Please consider giving this older boy a home where he can live out the rest of his life. He would be a loving, faithful companion. Contact Cindy at 704-574-0325 for more information.
OMG if we had the room, he'd be ours right now - but we don't. Surely someone out there has it in their heart to adopt a sweet, loving older companion! I know I've said it before, but it bears repeating - adopting our Annie was the best decision we made for our family. Sure, you say you want a puppy, but why? An older dog like this is generally less expensive, requires less time to train, and has an established temperament. Older dogs are just as deserving of a home! Think about it - how afraid would you be if you were old and all of a sudden, discarded? Cold, scared, and with nothing familiar in sight? It isn't fair, and it isn't right.
Even if you can't take Copper, please repost this link or his Petfinder page to your Facebook and / or Twitter. Let's help this good boy find his fur-ever home!
